Sent incorrect/incompatible glucose monitor and test strips

My doctor sent in a prescription for a generic glucose monitor and test strips that are covered by my insurance. Instead of the correct options, Amazon put a glucose monitor and test strips on my dashboard that were not fully covered by my insurance and do not work together.

I ordered them because I assumed they were the correct prescriptions. When I received them, the test strips did not work with the meter.

I would think this is something a pharmacist would check before releasing the order. I spoke with customer service, and no one would take responsibility at Amazon and wouldn’t even offer a refund due to their error.

Pros:
  • Discounts for bulk orders
Cons:
  • Unethical behavior and terms

User's recommendation: Avoid this prescription service as it seems they are only interested in profit and not the welfare of their consumers.

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with product or service ordered. Pharmacy replaced product and corrected prescription for the future. Be persistent until you speak to a human.

Original review Feb 26, 2026

I received 2 bottles of the same medication with the wrong doctor who is no longer in practice. I called and was able to chat with a robot.

I got stock answers and that it would take a few minutes to resolve it or look it up. Then I'd get an email in 24 hours to mail back the extra bottle.

When I said no, I was asked if I had photos. I asked to send pictures now and resolve it, and the robot ended the chat with 'Have a nice day!

  • - Ordered two bottles for $60 but received one.

Amazon Pharmacy - Bait and Switch on Size/Quantity

I ordered what I was told was TWO (2) bottles of an eye medication for $60 instead of one (1) bottle for $30 because the prescription was for forty-five (45) days. I was told by my physician's office that the system would ONLY allow for a 45-day prescription.

When I received the bottle -- it was ONE THIRD (1/3) the size of CVS or Walgreens or any other local pharmacy for a 30-day prescription, but I was charge for TWO BOTTLES and received ONE BOTTLE.

Today when I spoke with the pharmacist, she was terribly rude and insulting and stated that, and I quote "I know you only ordered one bottle and not two" How does she know I ordered one bottle for $60 instead of two bottles ??? I've never met her.

This is FRAUD

The $56 bottle from CVS in the larger bottle on the left and the SMALLER bottle from Amazon for $60 is on the right.

Pros:

AI Highlights
  • - Spoke with reps; most were not knowledgeable.
  • - Amazon Pharmacy has prescriptions I question.
  • - Prices are high; switching to Walmart with a coupon.

I have spoken to several customer service reps over the past week. It has been utterly frustrating.

Most don't know what they're talking about. I have my Amazon Pharmacy account open and seeing the prescriptions I have questions about. They say, 'Ah, we don't see any prescriptions' -- two phone calls in a row.

The prices have been very high. I am going to go to Walmart with a coupon.

Cons:
  • Terrible customer service and pricing

Preferred solution: A customer service rep that knows what theyre talking about

User's recommendation: DON'T use Amazon Pharmacy

Poor Customer Service Amazon Pharmacy

AI Highlights
  • - Spent hours trying to resolve an issue with Amazon Pharmacy with no callback.
  • - Co-pay card cut 90-day price from $1,150 to $30; policy blocks calling drug companies.

I have just spent several hours and many phone calls attempting to resolve some issue that Amazon Pharmacy has with filling one of my prescriptions. I have a Co-Pay card that reduces my price from around $1,150 for a 90 day supply (with insurance) to $30/90 day supply.

I've used these Co-Pay cards for many years with no issues from local pharmacies. I got as high up the supervisor ladder as I could and was told it is against their policy to call the Pharmaceutical companies or their Co-pay management numbers. I had a direct line and was told that they should be able to resolve the issue if Amazon Pharmacy would call them. Very poor customer service!!!

I was not called back or contacted, despite being told that they would several times.

Guess I am going to have to wait in the long lines at the local pharmacy. Thanks for nothing, Amazon Pharmacy!!!

User's recommendation: Shop prescriptions locally!!!

Amazon Pharmacy - Pharmacy massive price, discrepancy, and lack of customer support

I use Latisse eyelash growth serum and found a great price on Amazon. The pharmacy had my physician send them a new prescription, which was a nightmare.

It required at least four or five online chats, as well as additional phone calls from my physician. Then it finally got resolved, and instead of the price being $99, they charged me $165, which is extremely high for that product. I could've gotten it at my local pharmacy in one day for a lower price and better customer service.

Do not use Amazon Pharmacy. They absolutely are horrible.

Loss:

Cons:
  • Extremely long
  • Wait time for prescription verification and massive price discrepancy between website and actual order

Twice I have had Amazon take 4 days to send me a prescription through the regular USPS, and it sat in the heat. This is the estradiol patch, and it is heat sensitive.

Prescriptions are stuck in Amazon land

AI Highlights
  • - Auto-refill happened twice; orders stuck in Concord, NC; reimbursements promised, but prior authorization blocks meds; insurance billed twice.

I have Amazon Pharmacy and have never had a problem, and all my meds are on automatic refill. Amazon auto-refilled my order twice, and both are stuck somewhere in Amazon in Concord, NC.

I have called three times; they said they will reimburse my insurance two times, but now I still can't get my meds because I need a prior authorization since it's too soon to order my medication. So now I have to buy out of pocket.

I called my insurance company and told them they were charged twice, and they did not care. :(

Hostage "Pharmacist Review" is Random, Long, Unnecessary

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Pharmacist reviews exceed the 24-hour window, sometimes 72+ hours.
  • - Renewals are submitted early but sit in review for days; no SLA.

I have been using and getting the same prescription medication monthly for the past year, and as of recent, the 'pharmacist review' phase, which they say can take up to 24 hours, has exceeded 72 hours until I get on the chat with them, and then all of a sudden they release my medication for purchase, claiming they have a large backlog of 'unnecessary medications.' So there is no SLA they are held to (service level agreement) to provide timely 'reviews.' I don't think any medications with prescription are 'unnecessary.' There is no way to address direct complaints, and I have been experiencing this issue for months. I purposely submit my renewals early, and then it sits with them for days until I chat with them.

There is absolutely zero need for a 'pharmacist review' when nothing in my history has changed, and it is the exact same medication and dosage as historical. It is absolutely ridiculous that a random Amazon 'pharmacist' is going to override my doctor. Get out of here. Do better.

The excuse I get each time is 'backlog.' Not a good one in my opinion.

It's a joke and a reason for them to hold medications. Asinine.
